Laura Segers Fikes is a licensed, experienced attorney serving clients throughout Tuscaloosa and West Alabama. Originally from Homewood, Laura first moved to Tuscaloosa in 2001. In 2005, Laura received a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art and English from the University of Alabama. She went on to study business and law at the University of Alabama, where she received both an MBA and her Juris Doctorate in 2009. Laura graduated from the National Criminal Defense College in 2013 and was accepted as a fellow to the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in 2022. Laura is a proud member of the Alabama Volunteer Lawyers Program, the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the Alabama State Bar. She was the 2019-2020 President of the Tuscaloosa County Bar Association. Previously, she has served as Committee Chair for the Domestic Relations Committee, Vice President, and Secretary of the same organization. She is the secretary of the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and a member at large of the Family Law Section of the Alabama State Bar. In addition to her involvement in various law-related organizations, Laura is also active in the Tuscaloosa community. She served on the Board of the Tuscaloosa Community Dancers and is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Tuscaloosa. In addition, she is the past president of the PRIDE of Tuscaloosa Executive Board, a non-profit dedicated to providing evidence-based drug and alcohol prevention services to the youth of Tuscaloosa County and surrounding areas. She also serves on the board for Family Counseling services that provides accessible counseling and mental health to West Alabama residents on a sliding-scale basis.
